Goodbye, Friend
Yesterday afternoon, I lost my best friend. I've written how over the past month he's gone from sad to worse. Unfortunately, we never could get a diagnosis, and he kept slipping further every day.
For the past week, I've been force feeding to keep him alive. Yesterday morning, I think both of us finally had enough of that. It was time for him to go. He was fourteen years old.
The photographs were taken earlier this week.

Posted by: on September 12, 2003 06:40 PMI've lost animals (dogs) and it always surprised me how deep they have burrowed into my heart. Thinking gentle thoughts about you and your loss.
Warmly ,

ps Judging from the posts you do seem to have lots of folks that care.
See ya on the other side, scaredy-cat. (Maybe you won't have to panic about me always trying to pet you now).
So far I'd have to rate this month about an F.
That's for sure.
Posted by: Jon Lebkowsky on September 14, 2003 07:42 PMSorry that you lost your buddy, Chip. I've had the good fortune to share my home and heart with eight cats over the years (never more than 2 at a time), and as each of their life spans come to an end--some short, some as long as 14 years too--I thank them for adding that little patch to the quilt of my own life.
